But I Still Taste Coffee

A formal complaint regarding the coffee content of her coffee.

October 14, 2026

Lady Glitter Sparkles ordered coffee.

I need that entered into the official record before we continue.

She knowingly selected a beverage containing coffee.

Nobody deceived her.

Nobody slipped coffee into an unsuspecting glass of juice.

She approached the situation voluntarily and requested coffee with her own adult mouth.

This will become important later.

The Initial Complaint

Sparkles took a sip.

“It’s not sweet enough.”

Interesting.

Because the drink had already been ordered extra sweet.

Not regular sweet.

Not a tasteful whisper of sweetness.

Extra sweet.

This coffee had been given every available opportunity to abandon its responsibilities and become dessert.

Still, Sparkles remained dissatisfied.

Fine.

Perhaps the sweetness department had failed her.

Perhaps the sugar had become lost in transit.

Perhaps each individual grain had arrived but refused to participate.

She took another sip and issued a second complaint.

“It needs more milk.”

Ma’am.

This beverage is already basically all milk.

There is technically coffee present, but only in the same way a single employee may be technically present inside an otherwise abandoned building.

The coffee is there.

Legally.

Barely.

Exhibit A: Alleged Coffee

Please direct your attention to the cup.

The beverage is beige.

Not brown.

Not dark brown.

Not even coffee-colored.

Beige.

The brown tint shown here is believed to be largely ceremonial.

This drink looks like someone held a coffee bean near a glass of milk and allowed them to briefly acknowledge one another.

If additional milk were added, the coffee would qualify as a rumor.

At this point, I believed we had reached the natural limit of how much coffee could be removed from coffee before the beverage became sweetened dairy with bean trauma.

Lady Glitter Sparkles disagreed.

She took another sip.

She considered the evidence.

Then she delivered the statement that brought the entire proceeding to an immediate halt:

“But I still taste coffee.”

I stared at her.

There are moments in life when language abandons you.

This was almost one of those moments.

Almost.

Because fortunately, I still had exactly enough language remaining to respond:

“Bitch, you ordered fucking coffee. Of course you taste coffee.”

The Formal Complaint

For clarity, the complainant’s position appears to be as follows:

She wanted coffee.

She ordered coffee.

She received coffee.

She then discovered that the coffee contained a detectable amount of coffee.

This caused distress.

The requested remedy was apparently to keep adding sweetness and milk until no recognizable evidence of the original product remained.

At no point did Sparkles consider ordering something that was not coffee.

That would have been too simple.

Instead, she wanted the experience of ordering coffee without being subjected to the unnecessary burden of tasting it.

She did not want coffee.

She wanted sweetened milk wearing a coffee name tag.

Cross-Examination

EC: Did you knowingly order coffee?

Lady Glitter Sparkles: Yes.

EC: Did the beverage contain coffee?

Lady Glitter Sparkles: Yes.

EC: Is your complaint that you could taste the coffee inside the coffee you ordered?

Lady Glitter Sparkles: But I could still taste it.

Your Honor, the witness is repeating herself.

No further questions.

Findings of Fact

After reviewing the testimony, photographic evidence, and nearly white beverage submitted to the court, the following facts have been established:

  1. Lady Glitter Sparkles ordered coffee.
  2. Lady Glitter Sparkles received coffee.
  3. The coffee contained coffee.
  4. The coffee was already extra sweet.
  5. The coffee was already mostly milk.
  6. Lady Glitter Sparkles could still taste a small amount of coffee.
  7. This was not a defect.
  8. Her expectations were incompatible with the beverage she voluntarily selected.

The court also finds that adding more milk would not have resolved the underlying issue.

The underlying issue was that Sparkles wanted coffee without coffee.

Unfortunately, science has declined her request.

The Defense

In Sparkles’ defense, she remained committed to her position.

She did not retreat.

She did not reconsider.

She did not acknowledge that tasting coffee inside coffee might be a predictable outcome.

She simply sat there, betrayed by the continued existence of the exact ingredient she had ordered.

I almost respect it.

There is something powerful about maintaining your complaint even after every available fact has personally asked you to stop.

This woman looked into a cup of sweetened beige milk, located the final surviving molecule of coffee, and demanded accountability.

That level of determination could change the world.

Unfortunately, she used it here.

Post-Trial Update: Exhibit A Has Been Abandoned

After fighting passionately for additional sweetness, additional milk, and the complete removal of all detectable coffee flavor from her coffee, Lady Glitter Sparkles abandoned the beverage in our refrigerator.

She did not finish it.

She did not throw it away.

She placed it in cold storage and walked away from the case.

The coffee now sits among the leftovers as physical evidence of a complaint nobody intends to resolve.

Cold.

Unclaimed.

Still tasting like coffee.

After everything that beverage endured—all the milk, all the sweetness, all the public criticism—it has been sentenced to slowly expire in our refrigerator.

The court interprets this as a surrender.

Final Judgment

The court understands that Lady Glitter Sparkles wanted a sweeter, milkier beverage.

The court acknowledges that people are entitled to enjoy coffee however they choose.

The court further acknowledges that ordering coffee and then objecting to the presence of coffee is fucking ridiculous.

The product was delivered as requested.

The coffee was barely hanging on.

The milk had achieved complete operational control.

The sweetness had been increased.

The complainant has now abandoned the evidence in the refrigerator.

No wrongdoing occurred.

No refund is owed.

No additional milk will be authorized.

The complainant is advised to order hot chocolate next time.

Or a milkshake.

Or a cup of sugar with a straw.

Anything except another coffee she intends to prosecute for tasting like coffee and then leave in our refrigerator until someone else is forced to dispose of the remains.

Lady Glitter Sparkles looked at me and said:

“But I still taste coffee.”

Yes, bitch.

That is the coffee.

Case dismissed.
